Privacy Policy
VaultELD is an electronic logging device (ELD) service operated by CarrierVault LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company ("we", "us"). This policy explains what we collect through the VaultELD driver app, the in-cab device and the fleet dashboard, why we collect it, and who we share it with.
Who controls the data
VaultELD is used by motor carriers to meet the federal hours-of-service rules in 49 CFR Part 395. The carrier that employs or contracts a driver decides how that driver's records are used. We process those records on the carrier's behalf. If you are a driver and want to see, correct or export your records, contact your carrier first. You can also contact us at the address below.
What we collect
- Account details: name, username, email, phone, driver's license number and state, and the carrier you drive for.
- Hours-of-service records: duty status changes, log edits and their notes, certifications, inspection reports (DVIRs) and messages with your carrier.
- Vehicle and engine data from the ELD: vehicle identification number, engine hours, odometer, speed, fuel data and fault indicators.
- Location: the truck's position from the in-cab device, recorded as the ELD rules require. During personal conveyance, recorded positions are reduced to roughly a 10-mile area, as the ELD rules require.
- Technical data: app version, device type, sign-in times and error logs, used to keep the service secure and working.
How we use it
- To record hours of service, calculate driving limits and warn drivers before a violation.
- To produce the records an authorized safety official asks for at the roadside or in an audit, including transfers to FMCSA.
- To give the carrier its dashboard, reports, fleet map, IFTA mileage and maintenance reminders.
- To secure accounts, prevent misuse and fix problems.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
Who we share it with
- Your carrier, which can see the records of its own drivers and vehicles.
- FMCSA and authorized safety officials, when a driver or carrier transfers records or the law requires it.
- Partners the carrier connects, such as load boards or visibility platforms. They receive only the data types the carrier approves, and the carrier can revoke access at any time.
- Service providers who host and operate the service for us under confidentiality obligations.
- Others when required by law, such as in response to a valid subpoena or court order.
How long we keep it
Federal rules require carriers to keep ELD records and supporting documents for at least six months. We keep records for as long as the carrier's account is active and for the period the law requires after that, then delete or anonymize them.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit. Passwords are stored only as salted hashes, and device and partner keys only as one-way hashes. Edits never overwrite an original log record, so every change can be traced.
Your choices
You can ask us for a copy of your personal information, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it where the law allows. Hours-of-service records that a carrier must keep by law cannot be deleted before the retention period ends. Location permission on the driver app can be changed in your phone's settings, but the ELD will still record the truck's position as the rules require.
Children
VaultELD is a business service for commercial drivers and is not directed at anyone under 18.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will post the new version here with a new effective date. We will notify carriers before a material change takes effect.
